Lovers, Muggers, and Thieves: Solo Exhibition by Duke Riley
After a career spanning decades with museums, galleries, and cultural institutions around the world, Boston-born and raised Duke Riley had his first solo exhibition in his hometown with Lovers, Muggers, and Thieves. Presenting drawings, mosaics, and video by Riley, who is now based in Brooklyn, NY, the show also featured the premiere of original scrimshaws made from found discarded plastic, all of which are on view in his current solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, DEATH TO THE LIVING: Long Live Trash. The large mosaic created for this exhibition, The Enchafed Flood, is now in the collection of the Boston Public Library and is on permanent display at the Library's main branch in Copley Square.
