Join us at the gallery for a night of music and visual art. Inspired by Yuri Shimojo’s exhibition, Mirrors, this program draws upon related themes of loss, grief, and gratitude. Matthew's program span four centuries, from Johann Sebastian Bach in the 17th century, to Leileihua Lanzilotti and Reena Esmail in the 21st century. Each musical piece is unified in its medium: a work for a musician to be played alone, unaccompanied.
While Yuri Shimojo's painting practice is hers alone, the exhibition shows key collaborations with scroll masters from Osaka and ink makers from the United States. Similar to Mirrors, each musical piece originates from a space of collaboration, though they are ultimately presented by one voice.
Admission for this event is $20.
Doors open at 6:30pm.
Performance begins at 6:45pm.
